In November of 2015 an environmental disaster of unprecedented magnitude in Brazilian history took place--a mining dam burst releasing tons of water and mineral waste. In this large-scale installation I used soil, branches, and cast cone shaped pieces with mud to reflect on the devastating effects of capitalism on the enviroment. For this project I drew inspiration from the cosmo-ecological thought of Davi Kopenawa, shaman and spokesperson for the Brazilian Yanomami, who denounces the ecological devastation, and warns of an impeding fall of the sky with the subsequent end of this world.
