For my solo show Barriers I interviewed eleven people who were either immigrants, foreigners living in the United States or American-born with multiple identity. This project took place in May/2017 within a context of increasing anti-immigrant rhetoric and calls for the expansion of walls in the USA. The participants were asked to talk about their experience in regards to barriers they had faced in this country. The interviewees replied to these questions in their mother tongue, and some chose to speak in English to highlight their accent. Their voices, languages and stories were simultaneously presented in the space without translation.
