Patricia Leal is an Oakland-based artist originally from Recife, Brazil. Leal works primarily with video, sound and installation. Their practice has been informed by their experience of dislocation, as well as their interest in decolonial practices. They hold a BFA from California College of the Arts. Leal has been selected for the 2019 ACRE residency, the 2018 Methods of Acti(ng)on: CCA Alumnx Residency and has been the recipient of a Creative Dissent fellowship at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. They have worked as a youth mentor in the Artists in Education program at Southern Exposure and is currently a member of CTRL+SHFT Collective in Oakland.
