Patricia Leal is an Oakland-based artist originally from Recife, Brazil. Leal works primarily with video, sound and installation. Her practice has been informed by her experience of dislocation, as well as her interest in decolonial practices. She holds a BFA from California College of the Arts. Leal has been selected for the 2019 ACRE residency, the 2018 Methods of Acti(ng)on: CCA Alumnx Residency and has been the recipient of a Creative Dissent fellowship at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. She has worked as a youth mentor in the Artists in Education program at Southern Exposure and is currently a member of CTRL+SHFT Collective in Oakland.
