Patricia Leal is an Oakland-based artist originally from Recife, Brazil. She keeps an interdisciplinary practice working mainly in installation and video. Her work has been informed by her experience as an outsider in the United States, as well as her interest in decolonial practices. She holds a BFA from California College of the Arts. Leal has been selected for the 2018 Methods of Acti(ng)on: CCA Alumnx Residency and has been the recipient of a Creative Dissent fellowship at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. She has worked as a youth mentor in the Artists in Education program at Southern Exposure and is currently a member of the CTRL+SHFT Collective in Oakland.
